A SCHOOL of excellence in silversmithing and jewellery manufacture has received an award from Prince Charles. The Bishopsland Educational Trust in Dunsden was presented with the inaugural Encouraging Craft Skills in Education prize at this year’s Craft Skills Awards, held at Glaziers Hall in London.

More than £32,000 has been raised by a 140-mile walk organised by the owner of the dog which won best in show at this year’s Crufts. Gavin Robertson, who runs Avalon kennels and cattery in Old Icknield Way, Benson, with his wife, Sara, decided to use petit basset griffon vendeen Jilly’s high profile to fund-raise for three charities. TV presenter Clare Balding and her Tibetan terrier Archie were among those who joined him for part of the five-day walk along the Grand Union Canal.

Police are promised a “robust” approach to crime during Henley Royal Regatta. More than 80 officers will be on duty in the town centre and on the Berkshire side of the river and designated public place orders will be used to confiscate alcohol from people drinking in the street.
