Boats and crafts of bygone eras

THE 45th Thames Traditional Boat Festival takes place on the River Thames and Fawley Meadows next weekend.

Celebrating British boatbuilding and craftsmanship, with attractions on water, land and in the air, the festival includes the largest fleet of Dunkirk “Little Ships” so far.

There will be traditional boats, amphibious and military vehicles, aircraft of the Great War Display Team including a Sopwith Camel and much more.

A Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster bomber from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will visit.

Paul Clerehugh’s pop-up Crooked Billet restaurant will serve food and present live music until late. Acts include Henley saxophonist Art Themen, Clearwater Creedence Revival and Mickey Gallagher’s Exmen.

There will be veteran bicycles and tricycles, vintage stalls and a Saturday evening illuminated parade.

The Thames Traditional Boat Festival takes place from Friday, July 19 to Sunday, July 21 at Fawley Meadows and on the River Thames.
