Architects vie for business with return of Design Day

Architects vie for business with return of Design Day

THE seventh annual Henley Design Day took place at the town hall on Saturday.

More than 400 people attended the event where architects and design experts showcased their work to potential clients.

Organiser and town councillor Sarah Miller, a project manager at the Royal Insitute of British Architects, said: “This year they made much more of an effort with their stalls.

“When I did the first event seven years ago, it was a table and two chairs and the architects would turn up with some photos and brochures but now it is a lot more. There must be a little bit of competition as they are all trying to get the same bit of business.”

Anderson Orr had brought a 40in television screen.

Hamptons International, which sponsored the event, had a game of guess the house price, which involved trying to guess the value of chateaux in the south of France, farms in Gloucester and a £3 million townhouse in Notting Hill.  The estate agent was also offering a raffle for a Fortnum & Mason hamper.

Ms Miller said: “The exhibitors were delighted.

“I spoke to all of them and they thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
