Refreshing decision

A HOTEL is set have a contract to serve refreshments on Red Lion Lawn extended by another year.

The town council, which owns the site, is being recommended to approve the request by the Red Lion Hotel.

In June last year, the hotel was granted a six-month licence but in October some councillors complained that this gave the impression the lawn was no longer for public use, particularly as a sign on the railings promoted the sale of refreshments. The hotel manager then had the sign had been removed.

The council will make a decision on June 17.
