Restaurateur provides taste of business

MORE than 30 Henley business owners visited a restaurant to hear a talk from the proprietor.

The event at Orwells in Shiplake Row, Binfield Heath, was the first of a number to be organised by the Henley Business Partnership for its members.

Restaurant owner and head chef Ryan Simpson spoke about his career and opening Orwells with business partner Liam Trotman in 2010. He talked about his passion for using local produce — he grows his own vegetables in Lower Shiplake and keeps bees.

The guests were able to try some of the restaurant’s entrée dishes, including baked parmesan balls, smoked salmon and blue cheese tartlets.

Gillian Nahum, a director at the partnership, said: “We like food and drink at our meetings so it was an obvious choice to go to a restaurant and have the owners give a talk. It was really interesting. Ryan and Liam talked about their passion for local food and it was well received by everyone.
