AN open garden event was held at Badgemore Primary School on Sunday for Great Big Green Week.
Visitors to the school in Hop Gardens could admire the garden which features a pond, bog garden, wildlife hedge and a beehive.
Parents Frances and Ben Palmer, who organised the event, hosted cutting and sunflower seed sowing workshops in the outdoor classroom and children took part in a scavenger hunt.
Mr Palmer, who runs the school’s gardening club, said: “These events are so important for raising awareness and getting schools involved is really important. We are so lucky to have such amazing grounds here. We aim to give kids an insight into their local environment and encourage them to think about the ways they can support it.
“We also want them to think about their own practices in terms of being sustainable and helping the environment.”
