Pupils given safety lesson

Pupils given safety lesson

CHILDREN at Benson Primary School were given a talk about the importance of staying safe around construction sites.

The speaker was Matt Jenkins, health and safety manager at Bewley Homes, which is building the Regency Gardens development in village.

Pupils have been encouraged to design safety posters, with the best ones being displayed on on-site hoardings.

Mr Jenkins said: “Construction sites can be dangerous and it is crucial that young children understand why they must stay away.

“Our partnership with Benson Primary School allows us to engage with pupils in a fun but meaningful way, helping them recognise potential hazards and the importance of staying safe.”

Headteacher Amy Pearce said: “We are delighted to work with Bewley Homes on this important initiative. The children really enjoyed the session and the poster campaign has been a great way to reinforce key safety messages.
