THE hedges and trees at the council allotments in Cane End are to be cut back.
Allotment holders Mike Stain and Meryl Toomey asked Kidmore End Parish Council to carry out the work.
They said the hedges and trees were overgrown and a safety hazard.
The maintenance work that used to be done by contractors had not been done for more than a decade.
Parish clerk Roger Penfold said he couldn’t recall the council ever paying for the work to be done so the allotment holders would have to agree fund it.
He will obtain three estimates for the council’s next meeting.
Meanwhile, residents of Sonning Common whose hedges are overgrown are to receive a warning letter.
The parish council is to notify people whose hedges are growing into public paths that this is an offence under the Highways Act, enforced by Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority.
If hedges are not cut within two weeks of the date of the letter, the county council will carry out the work and send the resident a bill.
