THE famous Fair Mile cow is set to make her stage debut in the Kenton Theatre?s production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
The lifesize sculpture is usually at home in a field outside Gaie Scouller?s home. The current model is set to retire but a new version will have her first outing in the panto as she is exchanged for Jack?s magic beans.
She will be transported via a horse box to the town centre to make an appearance at the theatre?s display at the Christmas festival before taking centre stage for the pantomime.
Ed Simons, chairman of the Kenton trustees, says: ?As with all good cows, she has got multiple purposes. We?ll create a display and have all the cast down with us and they?ll be talking to people and having their photo taken with them. It should be fun.? Mr Simons said the older model was now enjoying a ?life of retirement?.
?I think Gaie felt it probably wouldn?t have made the trip down into Henley,? he said. ?We will have the new cow for the run of the pantomime and then we will deliver it, safe and sound, back to Gaie.
?It?s creating a bit of a logistical problem of how we get it down the passageway to the Kenton and on to the stage. However, this is obviously a big moment in the cow?s life and the director and producer are quite excited about it."
