A VOLUNTEER is needed to wind the village clock in Checkendon.

Brian Palmer, who carries out the task at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, is stepping down after five years.

His replacement will need to climb a 13ft wooden ladder to wind the clock once a week.

Training will be provided for the successful applicant. To apply, call Mr Palmer on 07817 457785.
