BALLOONS were released from the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Shiplake to mark National Adoption Sunday.
Each of the 67 balloons represented 1,000 children in the care system and had a message attached which invited the finder to think about the issues it raised.
Philip and Sheila Bowcock, who have fostered children for 45 years, spoke about their experiences at a special service which took place before the release of the balloons and a foster carer was interviewed by her foster daughter.
Rev Paul Bradish, the rector, said: “Members of our congregation have adopted and fostered and we really wanted to celebrate that. It was a very moving service and perhaps a child who is waiting to be fostered will find one of the balloons and it will give them hope of finding a home.”
