HOLY Trinity Church in Henley and Trinity at Four held Follow the Star over two days, writes Elizabeth Chambers.
A total of 435 children and adults came despite the rain.
Follow the Star was a walk-through nativity within the transformed grounds of the church in Greys Hill, where families took a journey with a shepherd as a guide to meet characters from the first Christmas.
Thirty-five members of the two churches participated, from acting to serving hot drinks and mince pies to the community at the end.
There were donkeys and sheep one day that children could feed.
One visitor said: “The whole experience was enchanting. That everyone had taken time out of their busy weekend to act out the story and that you’d thought through every detail to make it special was really heartwarming and lovely. Thank you.”
Another said: “An amazing way to educate the children about Christmas. Super-engaging and beautifully done. We will be coming again next year.
A third said: “I wasn’t expecting interactive theatre — it was fantastic and so fun. Loved the spices and parrot!”
