Ringing success

THE young bell-ringers of St Mary the Virgin Church in Hambleden, who featured in last week’s Henley Standard, have won a national competition.

Theo, 10, and Sam Boughton, 14, from Marlow, who are also part of the Bucks and Berks Young Ringers, won the South East England Youth Striking Contest.

The duo began ringing at All Saints Church in Marlow before ringing at St Mary’s Church in Wargrave and finishing at St Andrew’s Church in Clewer. Young ringers attended from the South East including Kent, Hertfordshire and Sussex.

Theo said: “It felt incredible to win, especially in front of all the other teams and after working really hard in our practices. I can’t wait for the national youth contest in Birmingham in July.”
