HAMBLEDEN Cinema will be screening Operation Mincemeat (PG-13) at the village hall tomorrow
(Saturday).
Starring Colin Firth as a naval intelligence officer plus Matthew Macfadyen and Kelly Macdonald, the film tells the true story of an audacious plan by British intelligence during the Second World War.
They arranged for the corpse of an apparent royal marine to wash up on the shores of southern Spain in 1943, together with fictitious papers and a briefcase containing classified information. This high-stakes sleight of hand was designed to misdirect the Axis powers and help win the war for the Allies.
The doors and bar open at 7pm and the film begins at 8pm. The bar will be selling soft drinks, wine, beer and cinema snacks. Tickets cost £8 and can be bought from Hambleden Village Stores or from www.hambleden
cinema.co.uk
The screening is in aid of the village hall.
