Discover Tuesdays: The Artist And The Model (12A)

Starring: Jean Rochefort, Aida Folch

Fernando Trueba directs this drama set against the backdrop of Occupied France in the war. Elderly artist Marc (Rochefort) gets a new lease of life with the arrival of a mysterious young woman who becomes his muse.

This black and white movie is full of imagery, and is a meditation on ageing and the creative process.

Captain Phillips (12A)

Starring: Jim Broadbent, Lindsay Duncan, Jeff Goldblum

A middle-aged couple go to Paris to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary but while bumbling and neurotic hubby Nick wants to re-kindle their marriage wife Meg is not so keen.

Director Roger Michell teams up again with screenwriter Hanif Kureishi in a witty and incisive portrait of an ailing marriage.

Turbo (U)

Voices of: Samuel L Jackson and Snoop Dogg

Theo is a young speed freak who longs to break out of the daily drudgery of work. Trouble is Theo is a snail and his work is chewing tomato plant leaves.

Hugely entertaining and visually fantastic tale. Showing in either 2D or 3D.

Le Weekend (15)

Starring: Tom Hanks, Barkhad Abdi, Barkhad Addirahman, Catherine Keener

Hanks plays the captain of an American container ship invaded by Somali pirates who kidnap him and demand a ransom. Based on a true life story.

An intelligent, thrilling, edge-of-your-seat drama made all the more emotionally-charged because it’s based on a true story. Hanks is truly awesome.
