Cafe Scientifique Henley

CAFE Scientifique Henley presents “Tracking the sustainability of long-haul flights” by Dr Cathie Wells at Henley Hockey Club on Wednesday, February 15 at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm).

We all enjoy travelling to exciting and far-off locations but the current climate crisis is making flights less and less attractive. Is there anything we can do about this?

By making the best use of atmospheric data to plot courses that minimise aircraft fuel burn, airlines can not only save money on fuel but also reduce emissions.

Dr Wells is an interdisciplinary researcher at the Walker Institute, the University of Reading’s interdisciplinary centre for climate change research.

Last year, her PhD research won the STEM project of the year at the Times Higher Education Awards

The talk will last for 45 minutes and will be followed by a question and answer session. Refreshments will be available at the bar. To register for the event, email cafescihenley@gmail.com
