Rosehill ladies

WE gathered for our fifth meeting on August 2.

What has happened to summer? Maybe we will get it during August but the forecast is not too hopeful.

As usual, we were welcomed by Sue, who then appealed for someone to come forward to make the teas as Barbara Hutchins is having to retire from the task because of her failing eyesight.

We really need someone who is strong enough to lift and pour from the quite heavy teapots.

There must be somebody out there who is able to help otherwise there will be no cups of tea.

The book club would meet at Barbara Wood’s house. There would be no Ladies That Lunch in August because of the outing to Riseley. A vote of thanks was given to Liz Hutton who had suggested lunch at the Unicorn in Peppard as it turned out to be very successful and was enjoyed by all who went.

Still no suitable films on the circuit for the cinema club to visit but the knitters continue to knit.

Our speaker, Marie Rogers, gave a very interesting and entertaining talk called “Choosing the best colour for your skin tone”.

She explained that the natural colour of one’s hair also played an important part in this choice.

Marie had with her a big display of many samples of colour which could be placed on the body close to the face.

Four of our members were chosen to be “guinea pigs” so that the rest of us could see what a difference colours made, even lighter or darker shades of the same colour.

Thank you, Marie, for an interesting afternoon. Barbara made us her final cups of tea, which were enjoyed by all, and the raffle was then drawn.

Sue closed the meeting by saying that we would next meet at St Barnbas Church hall in Emmer Green on Wednesday, September 6 at 2pm. Our speaker will be Dorothy Cook on “Tales of a midwife”, which sounds good.

If you feel like an afternoon out why not come and join us? We would make you most welcome.

Jean Hewitt
