£500 gift for garden

A DEVELOPER has donated £500 to a community garden.

Cala Homes has given the money to Benson Community Garden to help with operational costs and supplies, including insurance, plants and fertiliser, as well as events.

The company has supported the garden since it was established at the allotments off St Helen’s Avenue in 2019 and has now donated more than £2,000 in total.

The gardens were created by villagers Richard and Bridgid Hess.

Mr Hess said: “Our sign-painting event last summer was a great success and so much fun for local residents.

“The allotment and these events are our way of contributing and giving back to the Benson community.”

Stala Thomson, sales and marketing director at Cala’s Chiltern branch, said: “It has been a pleasure to watch the gardens go from strength to strength and play a pivotal role within the Benson community and environment.

“It is important to us at Cala to support local initiatives and we cannot wait to see how the garden continues to grow.”
