History of Reading Society

THE History of Reading Society will continue its in-person meetings at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading, on Wednesday at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm), when David Downs will be giving a talk entitled “Biscuits and Royals”.

David is well known in Reading as an historian and fanatical supporter of Reading Football Club.

He will bring along some ephemera from his personal collection and tell us about the goalkeeper with the wooden leg, the one who scored twice in one game, the record defeat of 18-0, a cup final win at Wembley, the fan who slept overnight on the pitch and many more fascinating tales about the Royals.

This meeting is open to members and visitors (£2 each). No need to book, just turn up on the night.
