Rosehill ladies

OUR seventh meeting took place on October 4.

As usual, Sue welcomed all present and gave out a few notices.

This was our Harvest lunch and all our thanks go to the team that arranged everything, especially Arlene who booked and collected the food from Costco.

We had a lovely range of goodies, including sandwiches, wraps, sausage rolls and pork pies.

There was also a gorgeous range of cakes.

Thanks also go to those members who put up the tables and chairs and cleared up afterwards. A huge thank-you to all who worked so hard.

We had short talk by Wendy Howell in her capacity as chair of Reading Family Aid, asking for help in providing Christmas presents for children of families who do not have the funds to provide them.

After the lunch had been cleared away we had a welcome cup of tea and lots of chat before the raffle was drawn.

During October the book club met at Barbara Wood’s house, Ladies That Lunch went to the Moderation in Caversham and the Cinema Group went to see The Great Escaper, starring Michael Caine.

Our next meeting will be at St Barnabas Hall in Emmer Green on Wednesday, November 1 at 2pm when the speaker will be Brian Graham talking about beeswax candles.

For those members that have booked, there will be a workshop to make two candles.

We would be pleased to see any visitors.
