Rosehill Ladies

MEMBERS of Rosehill Ladies gathered at St Barnabas Church hall in Emmer Green for our meeting on December 6.

Sue welcomed everyone, saying that the book club would meet at Barbara Wood’s house. She also reminded everyone that the Christmas lunch would be at the Griffin in Caversham.

Sue then introduced “The Chocolate Man”, who had set up his stall of delicious-looking packages with all sorts of chocolate.

He gave a short talk about how prices had risen and how he had tried not to increase his too much.

Sometimes it meant finding a different supplier who made a similar product, or was closer to home, thereby reducing travel costs.

He had handed round two types of chocolate for us to taste. The first was ginger flavoured and the second cherry. Everyone was then able to buy his chocolates.

We then had our cup of tea and mince pie. Thanks to all the members who kindly made mince pies — they were delicious.

Once we had eaten and drunk, we had a short play put together by a few members. It was extremely funny and everyone had a good laugh.

This was followed by everyone singing The Twelve Days of Christmas, which was also hilarious. I am sure the song will never be given more gusto.

Needless to say it was a very enjoyable rendition and I think everyone will remember it. Well done to the cast of the play.

The afternoon finished with Sue wishing everyone Happy Christmas and saying that our next meeting would be on January 3 with a quiz for entertainment.
