Survey ordered to find cause of pond’s falling water levels

ROSEHILL Ladies held their first meeting of the new year on January 3.
Sue began by thanking everyone present and wishing us all good tidings.
She said the cinema group had been to see One Life, starring Anthony Hopkins, about Nicholas Winton, who saved the lives of 669 children, most of them Jewish, from Czechoslovakia on the eve of the Second World War. It was a very moving film.
Our meeting continued with a quiz, which was organised by Zoe Myatt and was very good.
The first half of the quiz centred on different shades of green and the second half had the word “green” either in the question or the answer. This was great fun so a big vote of thanks to Zoe.
This was followed by Marjorie Weaver telling us the story of “Our Albert”, who was eaten by a lion. Well done, Marjorie, it was just as funny as the first time I heard the tale.
We then had a “play” by some members but I have to admit that I did not have a clue as to what was happening, especially as Margaret Cameron was a fairy.
There was so much laughter that I completely lost the plot.
Finally, we had a riotous rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas.
For me (and I think most there) it was a very enjoyable afternoon and may we have many more.
By this time everybody was exhausted and the following cup of tea and mince pie were very welcome.
It was a shame the afternoon had to end but most people was still laughing as they left.
Our next meeting will be St Barnabas Church hall in Emmer Green on February 7 at 2pm when the speaker will be Michael Page telling us about his career with Thames Valley Police.
