History of Reading Society

THE History of Reading Society will continue its online meetings at 7.30pm on Wednesday (February 21).

Mike Cooper will give a talk entitled “Early closing: air raids on Reading in the Second World War” via Zoom.

Forty-one people were killed by just four bombs during Reading’s only fatal air raid on February 10, 1943, one of about 20 raids.

This talk describes how Reading prepared for attack and the actual air raids themselves.

Mike has had a lifelong interest in history, especially military and local history, and has worked as a librarian.

This meeting is only available to current members. A membership form can be obtained by contacting us via our website, www.historyof
readingsociety.org.uk, or by emailing historyofreading
society@yahoo.com

Meeting joining details will be sent out a couple of days before the date and Zoom will be open 15 minutes before the talk starts.
