SAY “William Morris” and you can’t be sure what image comes into the listener’s mind.
Is it the artist of the famous willow pattern or the founder of the company that made the Mini?
On Thursday, April 18 Whitchurch & Goring Heath History Society will welcome back Marie-Louise Kerr (curator without museum) to explore the lives of two very different men with the same name.
Her talk, called “The two William Morrises of Oxfordshire”, begins at 7.30pm (coffee served from 7pm) and is at Whitchurch Village Hall. Non-members are welcome to join us and we charge just £3 to include coffee and biscuits.
Our last meeting before the summer will be at Goring Heath parish hall on Thursday, May 16 when we want to look at the last 70 years in the area covered by the society.
It was in 1952 that the new parish of Goring Heath was formed from parts of Whitchurch and Goring parishes. How have the villages changed? What do we remember of how life was when we first came here?
This will be an informal evening with coffee from 7pm and discussion from 7.30pm. No charge for non-members.
In June and July we go on members-only outings before reconvening in September.
