ROSEHILL Ladies met on May 1 and there was a good turnout.
The meeting started in the usual way with Sue welcoming all present, including any visitors.
We were reminded that our subs are due (£33). The money was collected for the visit to Stanlake Vineyard near Twyford.
The book club met on a Tuesday instead of the usual Monday as it was a bank
holiday. Ladies that Lunch met at Prezzos in Reading.
Once all the formalities had been covered, we were introduced to our speaker, Francis Jakeman, who told us about the setting up and running of the True Food Co-op in Emmer Green.
It all started back in 1999 when the True Food Club came together to source affordable organic food when Reading’s wholefood shops closed as the town was being redeveloped.
In 2004 pilot markets were held at community venues across Reading.
Over the years many changes have taken place and the business is now healthy and secure.
A presentation was made to Doris Goddard for her big “0” birthday.
Then we had our cup of tea after which the raffle was drawn. Sue closed the meeting at around 3.45pm.
Our next meeting was to take place at St Barnabas Church hall in Emmer Green on Wednesday with speaker Analiza Jones talking about handwoven bags from the Philippines.
