Henley u3a

HENLEY u3a’s next art history talk on Tuesday, September 2 will be on the subject of printmaking.

Keith Appleby will explain the various forms, which include woodblock, lino, screen, intaglio, etching, dry point, lithography and engraving.

In his monthly talks, Keith presents a personal view of art, photography and sculpture drawn from his experience of teaching for more than 30 years.

The aim is to open minds, not to persuade people to like particular artists or works.

On Wednesday, September 11, u3a’s series of regular talks continues with “Where do novelists get their ideas from?” by Bobbie Derbyshire.

The 2008 National Academy of Writing fiction prize winner will talk about her experience, how she builds characters and comes up with locations and plots.

Both talks will be held at Sacred Heart Church hall in Vicarage Road, Henley (there is a car park accessible via Walton Avenue). Doors open at 1.45pm for a 2pm start.

Annual membership of the u3a costs £15 and talks cost £2 members, £4 guests.
