WE assembled in St Barnabas’s Church Hall in Emmer Green on the first Wednesday in June.
Sue Green welcomed everyone, including visitors.
Next there was a short discussion about the visit to Stanlake Park winery, near Twyford.
All who attended said that they had enjoyed the afternoon and thanks were sent to Sue’s son who drove the minibus.
Our speaker Aneliza Jones, from the Philippines, gave a very detailed report about the making of bags hand woven from plant fibre.
Once the plants have been harvested there is a lot of labour in getting the strands the right thickness in order to weave the bags.
She had a collection of bags to show us and there was also the opportunity to buy one.
They were very colourful and beautifully finished.
After the talk came the usual cup of tea and biscuit before the raffle was drawn.
Sue reminded us that we are supposed to be making hats for the mad hatters’ tea party, which was the theme for July meeting.
You were warned — if you didn’t make a hat you will have to pay a fine (that’s me!).
