A CHARITY golf day organised by the Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh raised £8,000, which is being divided between nine charities.
The event was held at Sonning Golf Club last month and the funds raised will support vital causes locally and internationally.
The largest contribution was made to Kids Cancer Charity, enabling two local families with a child undergoing cancer treatment to enjoy a much-needed break in a holiday home.
A donation was also made to Yeldall Manor in Hare Hatch, near Wargrave, a residential treatment centre for men struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
Scott Trathen, joint president of the club, said: “It was a highly successful golf day, and players gave generously to support local charities. We are delighted to have made a difference to so many excellent local causes that do such good in our community.”
