Birds in literature

AN open day will be held by Ridgeway u3a at its speaker meeting at St Leonard’s Church in Watlington on Tuesday, September 17 at 2.30pm.

Ailsa Claybourn will give a talk titled Harridans, Hedwig and Hawks: Birds in Literature. This will be followed by cream tea, entertainment and a meet and greet with other members.

The event is also open to non-members who can attend for free and, if they join the group at the meeting, they can have a month’s membership for free.

On Tuesday, Jeremy Holmes gave a talk on Shakespeare’s “lost women” at its August meeting. He explored the theme of women in Shakespeare’s plays being lost, found or brought back to life and what this means for the male and female characters.
