BIN collection days in South Oxfordshire will change over the New Year holiday period.
Collections will take place up to two working days later, for example, if your normal collection day would be today (Friday, December 30), it will now take place on Tuesday, January 3. These arrangements will end on Saturday, January 14.
Garden waste collections have been suspended in order for the district council’s waste contractor Biffa to concentrate on Christmas collections. They will resume in the week commencing January 10.
The council says 80 per cent of household waste can be recycled. Cardboard boxes should be flattened and either put in the bin or next to it. Paper packaging such as cards and envelopes can be recycled if they don’t have glitter on them.
All bins must be fully closed with their lids shut. Any extra rubbish must be put in a bin for the next rubbish collection. If bins cannot be emptied due to bad weather, they should be left out for two days after the scheduled collection day.
Reading Borough Council says its bin collection days will be two working days later than normal next week and a day later the following week before returning to normal in the week beginning Monday, January 16.
