Twenty-five years ago...

ANGRY students from The Henley College are protesting that their courses are likely to be cut next year in a bid to save money. They learnt this week that vocational courses in beauty therapy, hairdressing and motor vehicle maintenance could be victims in a package of measures proposed by college governors. Students already on courses will be able to transfer to similar courses at other colleges in the area.

The corner of Duke Street and Hart Street in Henley could become a Boots opticians following the closure of men’s clothing store, Fosters. The company has applied for permission to refit the store next door to established opticians Frost, Borneo and Gegg, which has been in the town since the 19th century.

Henley post office sold out of the Princess Diana tribute stamp presentation pack in just one day. The packs, which contain five different stamps, went on sale on Tuesday.
