Ten years ago...

A WOMAN is horrified after one of her rare breed pregnant ewes was killed. Tracy Betteridge found Coco, a Welsh Badger Face, who was five weeks away from giving birth to twins, bleeding to death in a field in Fawley. She says the animal’s injuries were so severe that she can’t be sure whether it was attacked by a dog or a person.

A sky blue shop front does not spoil Henley’s historic ambience, according to a Standard survey. Just 12 per cent of respondents to our online poll criticised Paperchase, the new Bell Street stationery store whose colour scheme has sparked calls for a planning crackdown. By contrast, 82 per cent said the nearby branches of Carphone Warehouse and Boots were out of keeping with the area while 73 per cent criticised M & Co.

A woman claims her home is being split in two by the vibrations from lorries driving past. Judy Dinsdale, of Northfield End, Henley, says the number of heavy goods vehicles has increased while the surface of the road has deteriorated. Two large cracks have appeared on the second floor landing of her three-storey house, which is Grade II listed.
