AT the meeting of the Easter vestry in Peppard, at the conclusion of the ordinary business, the rector asked if anyone hand any suggestions. Capt Perowne said he hoped in the near future to bring up the question of occasional evening communion for discussion. Dr Gandy asked if the Ten Commandments could not be left out of the communion service. The Rector replied that in the revised version of the Prayer Book that provision would be made.

At the annual parish council meeting in Shiplake, held at Shiplake school, it was resolved that further gravel be laid behind the blacksmith’s shop at Binfield Heath and that the clerk should communicate with the South Oxon Water Company regarding the leakage of the water pipe near Holmwood.

Their Majesties the King and Queen, with the Duke of York and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon passed through Henley yesterday (Thursday) afternoon on the way to Turville, where they honoured the Marquise de Hautpol with a visit.
