TWO friends from Shiplake have won a Bafta. Christine Drew, 33, and Fraser Davidson, 30, picked up the award on Sunday for their work on new BBC comedy show The Revolution Will Be Televised. Mr Davidson created the animated sequences between sketches and Miss Drew was the production manager. The series, which was shown on BBC 3, won the best comedy programme category.

Raymond Blanc visited Watlington to support the town’s entry in the Britain in Bloom competition. The chef planted thyme and strawberries in Mansle Gardens and a blackcurrant tree in the grounds of Watlington and District Care Home. Blanc, who asked to be put in touch with his local Britain in Bloom group after launching the competition’s “incredible edibles” theme, said he was impressed with the town’s sense of community.

The new Mayor of Henley says the theme for his year will be “Making a difference”. Stefan Gawrysiak was speaking at the mayor-making ceremony at the town hall on Monday, when more than 200 people saw him voted into office. The former assistant head of Gillotts School said he felt
honoured.
