Scholarships and success for school leavers

Scholarships and success for school leavers

YEAR 6 pupils at St Mary’s Preparatory School in Henley are celebrating their success in securing places at leading selective schools.

A number of children won scholarships and awards for outstanding academic achievement and in sport and arts.

Headmaster Rob Harmer said: “I am immensely proud of our children’s incredible success. They have worked very hard and I am delighted to see them achieve such fantastic results.

“At St Mary’s, we support our children as they prepare for entrance exams and the 11+, giving them the best possible chance to succeed.

“Our pupils are well prepared for life at senior school — they are confident, articulate and well-rounded learners with a love of learning.”

Deputy headteacher Kate Bodle said: “Making the transition to senior school can feel like a daunting process but our children are well prepared. It is very gratifying that our parents recognise the value we are adding to their children’s education. Our pupils leave not only with the academic rigour required to succeed in senior school but as confident, resilient children who have developed a real love of learning.”

The schools that offered places included The Abbey, Abingdon, Cranford House School, Kendrick and Leighton Park, Reading, Our Lady’s, Abingdon, Pangbourne College, Queen Anne’s, Caversham, Reading Blue Coat, Shiplake College, St Helen and St Katharine, Abingdon, and Gillotts School, Henley.
