WHEN the great European upheaval caused by the war happened, one of the events to suffer was the the Henley and District Horticultural Society’s annual show, which used to be a great attraction. Its revival had been talked of and meetings held but nothing tangible resulted until the spring, when a meeting was called. A great and important factor was the weather and fortunately the weather on Wednesday, the day of the show, was fine. The chief feature was the trade exhibits, which were superb.

On Thursday evening, at the close of the evening service, the senior steward, on behalf of the members of the Wesleyan Church, presented to Pastor W A Edwards, who is leaving for Axminster, an ormolu travelling clock in a leather case. He also read a letter from the members in which they expressed their deep regret that Pastor Edwards was leaving. The recipient suitably acknowledged the gift.

The Juvenile Rechabites had their annual treat on Wednesday when, by kind permission of Mr W D Mackenzie, Fawley Court was visited. An excellent tea was provided and an enjoyable time was spent in all kinds of amusements.
