Welcome to the show

Welcome to the show

WELCOME to the 132nd Henley Farm and Country Show.

Thank you for supporting it and we hope you enjoy your day.

This year we have again been hit by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ restrictions on bird shows, affecting our poultry tent.

However, weather permitting, we should have showjumping in our rings and other equestrian events during the day.

The Village, which used to be ring 4, has some new activities in it, including archery, axe throwing and metal detecting with the Maidenhead Search Society.

The companion dog show will be in this area and the sheep show, birds of prey and gun dogs will be at the top of the Village. We have kept to last year’s format for the food and wine, shopping and craft traders and we hope you will enjoy the space and freedom of the retail area.

The Henley and District Agricultural Association is a charity with a remit to promote the growing and improvement of crops and livestock in the Henley area. Last year’s farm and crop competitions were a success due to the support of the local farming
community.

When we have a successful financial year we are able to donate to various local causes, so I thank everyone who attends the show, our members and sponsors without whom we could not achieve our charitable objectives.

The next association event is the annual ploughing match, which will be held at Shiplake Farm (RG9 4DN) on Sunday, October 1.

It is possible to enjoy a walk or trailer ride to watch the ploughing at relatively close quarters. There will be retailers’ stalls and refreshments.

We are delighted to welcome back the heavy horse village. We hope to see you there.

Peter Webb, chairman, Henley and
District Agricultural Association
