A NEW cash dispenser has been provided for customers of the Henley branch of Lloyds Bank. The cashpoint is the first of its type in Britain and the first to be linked to a computerised branch banking network anywhere in the world. Customers of the branch in Reading Road, can withdraw up to £100 a day from the machine, provided they have enough money in the bank.
The landlord and landlady of the Little Angel Inn in Remenham have retired after 21 years. Rupert and Sheila Bucknall built up a close relationship with many of their customers, as was demonstrated by a large farewell gathering on Sunday. Messages of good luck came from many people, including one from Australia. The couple will continue to live in the area.
A woman was treated for head injuries and a bruised leg at Townlands Hospital after two cars collided near the obelisk at the Marlow Road junction in Henley. The cars were a Morris Marina and a Hillman Avenger. Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident, notably two men in blue boiler suits.
