FLAGS will be flying in Henley on Friday when the town welcomes the Queen to officially open the River & Rowing Museum. She has a busy schedule ahead of her. She will also open the new Perpetual headquarters and will visit Henley Youth Centre. “It will be a very exciting day and we just hope the weather will be fine,” said Mayor Alan Follett who, with the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, will escort Her Majesty on a walkabout.

Flooding that followed torrential rain at the weekend caused a delivery van to aquaplane and turn over on Saturday. The driver and passenger were trapped in the vehicle for 20 minutes while Henley firefighters cut them out. The driver sustained a broken arm and the passenger was uninjured in the crash, which occurred at 1.40pm just past Bix on the road to Nettlebed.

A Henley school has been asked to take down a children’s climbing frame after complaints by nearby residents who claim pupils can peer into their homes. The large climbing frame at Rupert House School was constructed in August and has left neighbours concerned about their privacy and the noise the children will create.
