HENLEY Rugby Club is losing up to £30,000 a year and could quit National League 1 if its finances do not improve. The Hawks are to have talks with Henley Town Council to discuss ways it could help. The club has asked the council to waive the next two annual £4,000 rent payments for Dry Leas, freeze rent until 2018, extend the deadline for a £30,000 loan, which is due to be repaid in 2016, by 10 years and approve a £2,000 grant to fund a 10-year technical inspection of its pitch.

An appeal set up to equip 10 schools in Henley with lifesaving equipment has achieved its goal after just three months. Millie’s Dream was launched in September by Sarah Roberts to raise £15,000 to buy a defibrillator for each one of the primaries. It not only hit the target but raised another £2,000.

The owner of a pub which was damaged when a vehicle was driven into it has appealed for the person responsible to own up. It is believed a lorry caused the damage at the Golden Ball in Lower Assendon when the driver smashed into the front of the building. One wing almost collapsed. Head chef Stephen Luscombe said: “It was a pretty major shunt.”
