A PUBLIC meeting of tradesmen and others was held in the council chamber on Wednesday to consider the advisability of holding a shopping week and carnival in Henley. The Mayor expressed his pleasure at seeing such a representative gathering. He thought it was his duty to say that he had the interests of the town at heart and his endeavour was to do his best for the trade of the town, believing it would go a long way to solving the problem of unemployment.

There are very few who pass by the Henley parish church tower, whether it be along the road or by the river, who are not struck by its commanding appearance. As with everything else, renovation is required at some time or the other and that period has now arisen. If everything that is required is carried out it will cost hundreds of pounds.

At a meeting of the Henley Rural District Council, Maj Ducat Hamersley moved that Mr Jim Jones be asked to continue the house refuse collection at Watlington for another year for a payment of £65. The drainage committee recommended that notices be issued warning people against throwing offal etc into the public sewer, thereby blocking it.
