Pangbourne Rotary Club

THE art exhibition organised by Pangbourne Rotary Club was held at the village hall from April 19 to 21.

It was a great community event, which raised more than £1,500 for charity.

Organiser Clive Williams was delighted with the number of paintings sold (40) and the record footfall, including more than 100 children and parents at the schools art competition in the small hall.

We had a successful preview evening on the Friday, which was opened by Alex Barfield, the High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire.

As well as our normal exhibition and sale, there was a children’s art competition featuring paintings on the theme of “Nature” by pupils at Whitchurch, Pangbourne, Birch Copse and Englefield primary schools. The evening was sponsored by Green Parlour Florists and our designated charity, Bridge for Young People, including chief executive Tracy Underwood, were in attendance.

On the Sunday the winners were presented with certificates and art vouchers by Elspeth Drenchfield, from Nature Nurture, which sponsored some of the prizes. Each school received a “nature” pack.

We look forward to next year’s event.
