A TOWN council committee is recommending that the Red Lion Lawn in Henley should be renamed Falaise Gardens in honour of Henley’s twin town. The Mayor told a council meeting that something should be named after Falaise and asked for suggestions from the public. It had been suggested that the centre of Market Place be called Place de Falaise or that Mill Meadows be renamed Falaise Fields.

Flying Officer Anthony Nigel Clements, 23, of St Andrew’s Road, Henley, has graduated from the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, as a pilot. He was presented with his wings by the Duke of Kent. A former student at Imperial College, Tony now goes to RAF Valley in North Wales to learn to fly the tiny Gnat Jet used by the Red Arrows aerobatic team.

An office block and five new homes could be built in Friday Street, Henley, if South Oxfordshire District Council approves the applications. The proposed offices would be at 35 Friday Street, formerly Scandinavian Steel. Across the road, on the third of an acre site of Nunn’s Builders Yard, the houses are planned.
