REGATTA yobs who descended on Henley last Saturday were taught a sobering lesson by police and the town’s Pubwatch scheme. A successful joint initiative between the two meant “time” was called early on a group of known troublemakers when they found themselves barred from all town centre pubs. Police believe a 25-strong group had travelled from Reading to repeat the mayhem and disruption seen two years ago.
Henley’s trial traffic scheme will not be scrapped but a package of substantial modifications are set to be introduced. The latest decision on the scheme was made at a meeting in Oxford on Monday. Now Market Place will be open to one- way, westbound traffic, travelling up Gravel Hill and Greys Road car park will revert back to two-way traffic.
The latest techniques in forensic science are being used in a bid to catch a naked prowler who struck in Henley. Officers are hoping that DNA testing may provide fresh leads in the case. Evidence of the attack, which took place in the West Street area on Wednesday last week, were recorded by a forensic team.
