THE Sue Ryder hospice at Nettlebed will not move to Townlands Hospital in Henley after all. The charity has failed to reach an agreement with health chiefs over the proposed switch to a new 12-bed facility at the hospital, which is currently being redeveloped into a £16 million “health campus”. This means the charity will now look for another site to move to from its current premises in Joyce Grove.
The Mayor of Henley has apologised after storming out of a council committee meeting in anger at being interrupted. Martin Akehurst slammed his pen down on the table and jumped out of his chair before shouting at Councillor Stefan Gawrysiak for trying to stop him moving on the agenda of the town medal committee meeting. He exclaimed “Gawrysiak!” before adding: “We have had three or four meetings on this. I am fed up of going round in circles.”
The new chairman of Henley Residents Group says the town can “kiss goodbye” to a new skate park and action to tackle air pollution if the party doesn’t win a majority on the town council at the local elections in May. Councillor Stefan Gawrysiak was speaking at an extraordinary meeting of the party.
