Judy Colston, 1944 - 2016

JUDY COLSTON of Ewelme Park, Park Corner, died last Sunday morning after a short illness.

JUDY COLSTON of Ewelme Park, Park Corner, died last Sunday morning after a short illness.

She was born on January 5, 1944, daughter of Group Captain Nelson Briggs, AFC, CBE and Mrs Briggs and she married her husband Michael in July 1977.

Everyone who came across Judy esteemed intensely the attention that she gave to her appearance and presence. She remains an example to us all, bright-eyed to eternity.

She was always so beautifully groomed and dressed, whatever the occasion and wherever.

But to dwell on that is to misapprehend her true character and to misunderstand that Judy paid the same scrupulous attention to everything that she did.

Judy enjoyed playing tennis and was a keen trout fisherman. Her passions were her miniature wire-haired dachshund, Sancho, and her garden and lawn, which she insisted on mowing herself to get the lines straight.

She was also devoted to her three stepdaughters.

Her working career was spent as a high-powered secretary.

She was at Colston Appliances, the company which introduced the dishwasher to Great Britain, for 14 years.

Judy remains in our memories as a perfectionist but a perfectionist with a warm heart for everybody and with a delectable, self-deprecating, mischievous sense of fun.

The community of St Botolph’s Church, Swyncombe and the local neighbourhood admired Judy so respectfully yet warmly.
