HENLEY Town Council is offering to help reduce the energy use of organisations struggling with rising bills.
The council’s climate emergency working group has £11,000 set aside to pay for energy audits to measure the efficiency of buildings.
The group has also offered to provide grants to help cover the costs of any improvements that need to be made.
It says that as well as mitigating the impact of energy price increases, the funds will also help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Chairman Tony Hoskins said: “The working group wants to help building users address climate change and benefit from lower energy bills at the same time.
“This year saw the highest temperature ever recorded in the UK and a long drought, causing many problems including impacts on food production.
“We can all do our bit. We cannot afford to leave it until 2030 before we act or in some cases until 2050. By then it will be too late and it will impact all of us, including our children and grandchildren.”
Buildings in both the public and private sectors are eligible as well as charities and community buildings.
Applicants should own the building or have a long lease and an agreement with the owner.
Applications should be emailed to climate@henley
towncouncil.gov.uk with a deadline of December 24 for audits and January 31 for grants.
