World Book Week: Woodcote Primary School

World Book Week: Woodcote Primary School

Woodcote Primary School: World Book Day was celebrated by the whole school community. Children and staff dressed as their favourite book characters from The Cat in the Hat, pirates and dragons to Anne of Green Gables. The children spent some time in their house teams sharing books and chatting about recommendations with their team-mates. This involved collaboration between pupils across the school from reception class to year 6. School secretary Jo Longden said: “It was lovely to see and hear the excitement as stories and information were shared around the children so enthusiastically.” In the afternoon, the whole school met to test their knowledge of books. A quiz was set by the literacy lead teacher and the children, working together in their teams once more, had to pool their knowledge to answer the questions. Jo said: “The children here do seem to have an amazing amount of knowledge about books but we are, after all, a school with a real love of reading.”
