A MAN from Henley raised £673 for a charity by taking part in a boxing match.
Matt Eggleton, 35, of Luker Avenue, lost the bout at Henley leisure centre on Saturday but said he was happy with the proceeds.
The money will go to the Chiltern Centre, which supports young adults with learning disabilities and has been used by his sister, Erin, 23, since she was five.
Mr Eggleton, a ground worker, said: “I lost to a better opponent who was a little more experienced or trained harder. I managed all three of the two-minute rounds and it was very tough but I didn’t get knocked down and I stood my ground toe to toe.
“I celebrated afterwards by watching the rugby on TV, although that didn’t go too well for England. I’m glad I did it.”
Ivor Lloyd, who chairs the Chiltern Centre’s trustees, said: “Erin has been coming to us for nine years and we love having her at our buddies group.
“It’s very special when family members raise money for us. We are so grateful for the support.”
