Villagers go back to the Forties with fair

REMENHAM turned the clock back with a Forties-themed country fair.

The village hall and garden were decorated with bunting and three military vehicles were on display.

Entertainment included a bottle tombola, bar and barbecue, bric-a-brac, tea and cake stalls, a coconut shy and games. There were children’s races, a dog show, a tug of war contest and a produce show with classes for fruit, vegetables, homemade jams and flower arrangements. Children also had the chance to make scarecrows.

Peter Grace, a member of the organising committee, said: “We thought it would be nice to have a theme. It was a very pleasant afternoon and very well attended. The weather was very nice and it was lovely to see people enjoying themselves.”

The fete raised £1,300, which will be split between the village hall and St Nicholas’ Church.
